Speaking at his Abuja office on Monday, Turaki emphasized the need for young people to vote in the next general election — stating that they have the numbers and the power to change the nation.
“Right now, it is clear that whichever direction young persons asked us to go is where we are going”. This is because, from the videos and pictures I have seen, the young people of Nigeria are tired of the status quo and they are going out in large numbers to register to vote next year.
“Seeing the level of civic engagement on both social media and on the streets, it is clear that young Nigerians are ready to take charge of the process at all levels by electing leaders that have the capacity to address our economic and security crisis,” Turaki said.
The former Minister expressed optimism that the youth of Nigeria will not only register to vote, but will also come out to vote next year for the opposition PDP.
“If we can help to elect PDP candidates who have shown that they are competent and have the capacity to rescue Nigeria, we can get Nigeria back on track and on the path of economic and security development,” he said.
