Twitter Ban: APC led government violated sections 38 and 39 of the Nigerian constitution

The APC-led federal government’s #TwitterBan is a violation of the fundamental freedoms that are guaranteed to Nigerians under sections 38 and 39 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. No law criminalizes the use of social media or enforces its suspension, whether temporarily or permanently.
Government must understand that in addition to this action being questionable, it is an arbitrary policy that has neither the backing nor force of the law that will significantly hamper the businesses, sources of income, and livelihood of hundreds of thousands of young Nigerians.
As a nation, we must understand that our actions are being watched across the world by prospective investors — and such unpredictable policy shifts send a wrong message about the stability of our government institutions, our adherence to our laws, and how the government responds to criticism.
I hope that leaders, especially those in the ruling party, begin to push for the immediate reversal of this action. #KeepItOn
